Passopisciaro has done wonders for the Etna denomination and has the merit (along with Benanti and Tenuta delle Terre Nere) of having launched the regions wines into the stratosphere. Franchetti started bottling wine on Etna in 2001, then, in 2008, began bottling his single contrada wines, which were a knockout from day one. It’s safe to say he has never looked back.
Passopisciaro is purity. The fruit's purity of flavour highlights the underlying complexity that has made Etna so unique in Italian wine over the last ten years. Old vines, multiple lava flows, and a pure, intensely ethereal vintage have enabled Passopisciaro to craft a stunning set of wines.
